The Number Eighteen and Randommer Things

Sun Feb 7, 2010, 3:20 PM

  • Drinking: Orange Spice Black Stash Tea
So...I'm very slow with memes. Thus I must apologize to ~xxtimeless, ~hrwilliams, and most of all to *R-H-MacLanahan (because I still haven't gotten through yours).

Anyhoo, I have been tagged twice--once by :iconxxtimeless: and again by :iconhrwilliams:. And I'm so conceited, I'm doing both.

Rules:

1. Post these rules.
2. Each tagged person must post 18 things about themselves on their journal.
3. At the end, you have to choose and tag (18?! I sense a problem with this plan...) people and post their icons on the same journal.
4. Go to their pages and send a message saying you tagged them.
5. No tag-backs.

Okay, here goes.

Item #1: It's very snowy outside.
What do you mean that's not a personal statement? Okay fine; how's this:
I like shoveling the driveway by myself because it reminds me of home. Which, by the way, is still upstate New York, despite the fact I've lived in Indiana for going on 3 years.

Item #2: When I was an infant, I was either found in a cabbage patch or set gently on my parents' porch by a stork (or, perhaps, dumped unceremoniously down the chimney by a big, hairy pterodactyl--if you get the reference, you win). My parents deny this, though I note my sister hasn't tried to hide the truth from me.
Disclaimer: Ahem. Sorry. I mean no insult to those of you were found under a cabbage patch, but I'm just trying to illustrate something. That is that it's weird that none of my family--not even great-uncles and second cousins--enjoy writing. And none of my immediate family has the least bit of interest in popular music (see #10).

Item #3: Two weeks ago, I went to an eighties-themed party; I won second place (and a bag of m&ms) for authenticity. Which leads to...

Item #4: My hair is pose-able. It's usually almost straight, with maybe a bit of wave, but it holds curls like the Dread Pirate Wesley held Fezzik upon their first meeting. Yes, my hair is like Wesley.

Item #5: I just made a stamp. No, really; to put off dredging up more facts about me, I just spent a couple hours making a stamp. I'll go post it now, so you can see my handiwork. Then I'll probably make supper. (Does this say anything about my attention span?)

Item #6: I have returned to present you with another tidbit: I recently joined Gaia! Yay! It's such an epic, enjoyable waste of time. I even wrote about it. I'll go post the poem. (There were no rules about this not being a gallery-promoting scam.)

Item #7: As you may have noticed, I do a poor job when I get impatient. That may not be a unique characteristic, but I thought you should know. This also pertains to...

Item #8: I start tons of projects that I never finish. I have since I was very young. In fact, I still have documents with title pages to whole books that I was going to start when I was 7 1/2 years old (I know this because I signed my name and age to everything I wrote back then).

Item #9: I save almost every paper/drawing/letter, mostly because I know I have a memory like a steel sieve. This would be almost okay if I were organized about it; but I'm not organized about anything.

Item #10: Music is happily ingrained in my life and thinking; it can encourage, mesmerize, goad, and...Well, Coldplay's Clocks and Switchfoot's This is Home make me ache, in different ways. Clocks makes me want to write the perfect epic story; This is Home makes me want...home. A life. Adventure. Love. Heaven. For Aslan to tell that story Lucy talks about in VotDT.
It just aches.

Item #11: I write random poems from the viewpoints of imaginary people. Quite a few of these turned out emo, but well-formed. And another few have evolved into somehow starting to weave a story called Jack Built. Jack Built actually began as a handful of augmented nursery rhymes; now it's half of a country.

Item #12: I have scoliosis! No, I'm not dying. Look it up. It means that my back/shoulders/just about everything gets sore very easily. I'm still wincing because of the shoveling I did yesterday.

Item #13: I'm easily distracted.

Item #14: Media has a definite affect on me, especially on what I think is cool (even if, in certain cases, I still know it's not right).

Item #15: I love speed, especially running. After soccer balls. In the dark. On the football field. With my friends (the ones in South Carolina). And no shoes.

Item #16: I'm hooked on fanfiction for things that I've never read nor watched. My favorites: whydoyouneedtoknow.fanficauthors.net. Go, read!

Item #17: I watch too much TV. To prove this, I will list all of the shows that I keep up with. Scratch that; this quite is long enough. Just rest assured none of them are "reality" TV.

Item #18: I'm rooting for the Saints! Just to be difficult. Also, any beverage commercials not for beer.

Who do I tag? I choose you, Pikachu (I'm not checking whether you've already done it) to write ten (10) points about yourself:

Good luck, mates!
